Paraprofessionals in the Schools (Module 3): Assisting English Language Learners

With English Language Learners representing more than 10 percent of the student population in the United States, serving ELL students on a successful pathway to education has become increasingly critical for Paraprofessionals. Students who are identified as ELLs participate in language assistance programs to help ensure that they attain English proficiency. Participation in these types of programs can improve students’ English language skills, which in turn has been associated with improved educational outcomes. A paraprofessional can play an important role in aiding these students with language acquisition.

This module provides paraprofessionals with the critical knowledge and skills necessary to successfully support ELLs through their educational journey.
